About Me
Hello, and welcome.
Choosing the right therapist is a deeply personal decision, and I appreciate you taking the time to learn a little more about me.
I understand that beginning therapy can feel daunting. Whether you're seeking support for trauma, addiction, anxiety, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, I aim to provide a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you feel genuinely heard and understood.
My Professional Journey:
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a Member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), and hold a Master's Degree in Counselling.
Having trained and qualified in both the United Kingdom and the United States, I've had the privilege of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Before establishing Phoenix Counselling Services, I worked as a Primary Therapist within a residential rehabilitation facility in the U.S., supporting individuals recovering from addiction while helping them address the trauma and emotional difficulties that often underlie it.
I have also worked as a School Counsellor and a Mental Health Advocate, specializing in working with adults with severe mental health issues and within many organizations in various therapeutic roles.
I also hold an additional qualification and extensive clinical experience in working with survivors of sexual abuse.
My Philosophy:
I believe that understanding creates change. Many people come to therapy believing something is wrong with them. I see things differently.
The ways we think, feel, and respond often make perfect sense when viewed in the context of our life experiences.
Rather than asking, "What's wrong with me?" I believe a more helpful question is, "What happened to me?"
Understanding how trauma, attachment, life experiences, and the nervous system influence our emotional world is often the first step towards lasting recovery.
This philosophy underpins everything I do!
How I Work:
My practice has a specialist focus on trauma and addiction. While talking therapy remains an important part of the therapeutic process, trauma is not stored solely as thoughts or memories; it is also experienced through the body and nervous system. For this reason, I integrate:
• Somatic Trauma Therapy
• EMDR
• Brainspotting
• Attachment-informed psychotherapy
• Neuroscience-informed practice
Every client is different, so therapy is always tailored to the individual rather than following a rigid therapeutic model.
Continued Learning:
I'm passionate about ensuring my practice reflects the latest developments in psychological research. Alongside my core qualifications up to master’s level, I have undertaken additional specialist training in:
• Working therapeutically with survivors of sexual abuse
• EMDR
• Brainspotting
• Somatic Trauma Therapy
• Trauma-informed practice
• Addiction recovery
Professional learning is something I see as a lifelong commitment towards the most efficacious counselling practice.
What You Can Expect From Me
As your therapist, you can expect honesty, warmth, and genuine compassion.
I won't judge you.
I won't rush you.
I won't tell you who you should be.
Instead, I'll work alongside you to help you understand your experiences, reconnect with your strengths, and move towards meaningful, lasting change.
My goal isn't simply to help you cope.
It's to help you thrive...
